What can a music voucher be used to purchase? |
Music vouchers can only be used to redeem digital music downloads from the JBHIFImusic
online store. They are not valid for DVD’s, CD’s or any other physical product. This
remains the case whether the music voucher is purchased in a retail outlet or online.
How do I pay for music? |
You must log in to your account online to purchase music. Once you are logged in you
can pay for music using either a music voucher purchased from a JB Hi-Fi store or by
credit card. If you choose to use a credit card, you can either pay on a track by
track basis or top up your account with $5, $10, $20 $50 or $100 in one transaction.
What is a voucher code? |
A music voucher can be purchased from any JB-HiFi store and then used in
the online store. A voucher code is found on the back of your music
voucher, receipt (sometimes this is placed in the side split of the music
voucher card) or in an e-mail. Images below highlight the position the
code can be located on all three of these options. |

Why doesn’t my music voucher work? |
If your music voucher isn’t working, please contact support@destramusic.com with the
voucher code and the serial number. You will then either be provided a new voucher
code or have the credit placed into your online account.

Can I buy music here if I live outside of Australia? |
If the territory specified in the music license allows for purchase outside of
Australia then yes you can. Clicking on the [ i ] button (next to the buy button)
on all artist or release pages will allow you to view this information. Currently
however most of the content available in the digital store is licensed for
Australian purchase only.
What can I buy here? |
You can purchase downloadable, digital music files either as an album or track by
track. Once downloaded you can play your music files on your personal computer, burn
them to CD or transfer them to most portable players.
What are MP3 and WMA files? |
Both are digital music formats that you can play on your computer or a portable
music player. Files are of a high quality sound but compressed to allow for a quick
download.
The WMA (Windows Media Audio) file is a Microsoft digital music format. WMA files
are only playable on certain players and devices. It should be noted that they are
not compatible with iTunes and iPods. They are also subject to Digital Rights
Management software (DRM: see below for full definition).
MP3s are playable on almost all devices including iPods and are not subject to DRM.
What is DRM? |
Digital Rights Management (DRM) is protective software that restricts how many times a
music file can be burnt to CD/ Minidisc/ DVD or memory card. DRM also limits the number
of devices (additional computers, digital music players, mobile phones etc) that you
can transfer your music files to.
WMA files purchased from JBHiFi music are limited to 3 burns and 3 exports to digital
audio players that can process and uphold DRM licensing restrictions or equivalent
certified players.
DRM is only used when stipulated by the copyright owner and restrictions may vary
depending on which record label owns the copyright.
Why doesn’t Destramusic sell all its tracks in MP3 format? |
Some record labels currently require that their music to be sold with DRM technology to
protect their copyright; we cannot therefore offer their music in the unprotected MP3 format.
Record labels who require DRM protection supply us their music catalogue in Windows
Media Audio (WMA) files only and unfortunately this format is not compatible with
Apple Mac or iPod.
Can I burn these tracks to CD? |
For WMA’s you will need to burn audio CDs through Windows Media Player 9 or above.
Before you burn the CD, make sure that you have the license for all content you
wish to burn. There is a variety of software available to burn MP3’s to CD.
Which digital music file types are compatible with the player I own? |
A rough guide to the digital music players :
iRiver, Creative, Samsung, Rio, Archos
You can use any files both WMA and MP3 files.
Sony
You should buy MP3 files.
iPod, iPod Mini, iPod Nano or other Apple hardware
You should buy MP3 files.
For a full list of digital players that are compatible with WMA files check out
this website: http://www.playsforsure.com
Digital music can be encoded in a variety of different file formats. We sell both MP3s and
WMAs because we want to offer the widest possible choice of music. Next to all the tracks &
albums listed within the store you can see either an MP3 or WMA symbol which tells you their
file format.

How Do I download the files I have purchased from Destramusic? |
To get your purchased tracks, all you need to do is follow these simple steps.
- Login with your Email and password.
- Go to the “My Media” tab.
- Select which of your purchased releases you would like to download.
- Click download next to the track(s) you wish to download
- The Track will download to the destination folder displayed. Make sure you
take note of the folder name and where to locate it on your computer so you know
where to look for your music once the download(s) is complete.
Once the tracks are downloaded, import them onto your device using windows media
player 9 or above or your i-Tunes software if you’ve purchased MP3’s.
Please make sure to play your track before importing onto
your device.
Why won’t my WMA files play on my device? |
Firstly, check that your device supports WMA files and DRM. You can do this by
either reading your device's manual or visiting http://www.playsforsure.com and checking
the list of Microsoft 'PlaysForSure' devices.
If your device does support WMA files and DRM, then you need to make sure that
you are using Microsoft Windows Media Player' (version 9) or later to export your
track(s).
What do I do when Windows Media Player says it cannot connect to the server? |
Check your firewall settings. Your firewall may be stopping Windows Media Player
from connecting to the internet. If you are unsure on how to do this, please
consult the firewall “help” section. You should also ensure that the settings
within Windows Media Player are set correctly. To do this, open Windows Media
Player and click on the Tools menu. Select “Options” from the drop down menu. A
new window will open. Click on the ‘Network’ tab and make sure that the
following boxes under the Streaming Protocols have a check next to them.
Multicast
UDP
TCP
HTTP
Once the boxes are checked, ensure that under the heading ‘Streaming Proxy
Settings’, it says ‘Browser’ next to ‘HTTP’.
If it doesn’t say ‘Browser’, double click it and check the box
that says ‘Use Proxy Settings of the web browser’.
Why can I only use Windows Media Player version 9 or newer for WMA’s? |
Windows Media Player version 9 or later versions are all compatible with the Digital
Rights Management (DRM) encrypted music files that are sold from destramusic stores.
Other players may not be compatible and so may not play, transfer, or burn your
music files.
Windows Media Player is a free download so upgrading to a later version is simple and cost free.
Which computers are compatible? |
Our technology is optimised to work with Windows 2000/XP/ME systems using Mozilla
Firefox or Internet Explorer 6 and above and Windows Media Player 9 and above.
What is a promotional license? |
Promotional Downloads’ time-out (no longer play) usually between 1 and 4 weeks after
the music track or album being promoted has been downloaded. Sometimes the audio
download will be accompanied by extra content such as an artist’s biography, discography,
song lyrics, interviews, photos, etc.
At the end of the timed-out period, if the track or album is cleared for sale, you will
be prompted to purchase the release to be able to continue playing it.

determine if we can correct the problem and if not redeliver replacement file(s) to you.

with the full details of your account and the release you have purchased twice. We will then credit your
account with the purchase price.
I have deleted my music content. Can I download it again? |

restrictions will still apply (see above "what is DRM" for more details)
Why are there tracks in My Media which I haven’t purchased in this store? |
destramusic powers a number of download stores across Australia so no matter which
of these stores you buy your music from files will automatically be stored in the
'My Media' section of your account. This ensures you can access all your music
purchases from the one destination.
I have not registered with the store yet I’m receiving the message that my
E-Mail address is already in use, why?
Destramusic powers a number of digital download stores across Australia. If you
have registered with any one of our stores in the past then you already have an
account set up that is useable across all our stores. Log in to all stores with
the same E-mail & password to access your account.
What directory will my music be stored in on my PC for later use? |
When you download a track, your browser will ask you to set the storage location.
We recommend that you create a separate directory on your system to store all your
digital music to ensure that you can remember where to return to when wanting to
locate it.
If you are having problems finding your files consult your operating system manual
for help on searching your hard drive or consult your web browser documentation
for information on downloading and saving files.
Internet Explorer Blocking Downloads |
When you are using internet Explorer (IE) there is built in security that warns you before
downloading a file. You will notice after clicking the download button for a track from your
'My Media' the page will refresh and a yellow drop down menu appears at the top of the screen
with the words: To help protect you security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading
files to your computer. Click here for options.
Clicking on that popup will allow you to save the file.
